The EU WeMed_NATOUR project, which is co-financed by the European Union, intends to develop transnational eco-smart tourism packages for the school trips market.
The International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO), along with the Italian National Tourism Board (ENIT), Xóôlab|Sviluppo (XS), Travel without Plastic, the Asociación Cluster Náutico de las Islas Baleares, Turismo de Portugal and the National Tourism Office of Mauritania are partners in the project EU WeMed_NATOUR.
This project intends to develop transnational eco-smart tourism packages with a sustainable, responsible and ecological approach. The market segment on which this project will focus is primary and secondary school students. Through the implementation of this project, the tourism SMEs in the WestMed area will increase their competitiveness and will capitalise on the shared value of natural sites and coastal destinations.
The objectives of the project are:
- To support tourism stakeholders to tap into the growing ecotourism market which is still a niche market with specific reference to coastal and marine destinations.
- To boost innovation and digitalisation in the tourism sector, thus increasing its contribution to economic growth and jobs in the Mediterranean.
- To improve the business environment for tourism SMEs; mobilising investments, enhancing socio-economic, and diversifying the tourism offer.
