ISTO Americas participates in the Tianguis Turístico of Mexico 2022.

From 22 to 25 May, in Acapulco (Guerrero), ISTO Americas had the opportunity to meet most of ISTO's members in Mexico as well as the most important actors of the tourism sector in this country.

As every year, this business forum, in which the 32 states of the country are represented and where more than 70 countries participate to make business appointments and discover the best of Mexican tourism, was attended by ISTO's Secretariat for the Americas, represented by its president, Sergio Rodriguez Abitia.

From this participation of ISTO Americas, it is worth mentioning the handing over of ISTO’s membership certificate to the Secretariat of Tourism and Culture of Morelos where in addition to that, Mexico received confirmation for the realization of the next Encuentro de las Américas de Turismo Social in Morelos’ State in 2023. The meeting will be supported by the Secretariat of Tourism and Culture of Morelos, the Fideicomiso Turismo Morelos and the IMSS Oaxtepec holiday center.

In addition, the Secretariat of Tourism of Nayarit’ State, which seeks to strengthen tourism and join strategies for the promotion and development of tourism for all, represented by Juan Enrique Suárez del Real Tostado, Secretary of State’ Tourism, was also officially welcomed as a new Mexican member of ISTO. This participation in Acapulco was also an opportunity to accompany the Sustainable and Social Tourism Summit and the State of Guanajuato in the launch of the 6th edition of this important event, which will take place from 31 August to 3 September 2022 in the city of León. For the sixth consecutive time, ISTO Americas will co-organise this important event for Mexico and Latin America.

The Tianguis Turístico was also the occasion for ISTO Americas to announce, together with the Honorable Ayuntamiento de San Luis Potosí, the meeting of ISTO Mexico's partners in the framework of the International Week of Fair and Sustainable Tourism for All. ISTO partners in Mexico will meet in San Luis Potosi at the invitation of Enrique Galindo Ceballos, municipal president, and Claudia Peralta, director of municipal tourism, to participate virtually in the General Assembly of ISTO members and to celebrate, in person, this first meeting which will allow the articulation of coordinated actions throughout Mexico.
