Costa Rica recognized as the Best Accessible Destination for 2021 by Lonely Planet.

ISTO is delighted to congratulate the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo - ICT and the Red Costarricense de Turismo Accesible, for obtaining the distinction granted by Lonely Planet recognizing Costa Rica as the Best Accessible Destination for 2021.

Every year Lonely Planet chooses the Best Destinations. For 2021, the publisher has selected three major categories: sustainability, community and diversity. Each category recognizes 10 destinations according to various criteria.

Within the Diversity category, Costa Rica has been recognized as the Best Accessible Destination for 2021. In particular, Lonely Planet says "From exploring the plush rainforests and white-sand beaches to enjoying a variety of adaptive adventures like surfing and zip lining, strict accessibility laws make Costa Rica a wheelchair user’s paradise”.

At ISTO, we are proud of the work done by our partners the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo - ICT and the Red Costarricense de Turismo Accesible who are constantly working for a tourism for all, which contemplates the different needs of people with disabilities and in particular the tourists who come to this destination.
