A successful 7th International Week of Fair and Sustainable Tourism for All.

From 3 to 10 June 2026, the International Social Tourism Organization (ISTO) once again brought together its global network for the 7th edition of the International Week of Fair and Sustainable Tourism for All. This annual initiative continues to serve as a key moment for exchange and visibility, highlighting concrete actions in favour of a more responsible, inclusive and socially sustainable tourism sector.

Key figures

This year’s edition gathered a wide diversity of actors and initiatives:

  • 24 initiatives implemented worldwide
  • 17 organisations involved
  • 12 countries represented
  • 4 initiatives led directly by ISTO and its sections

These figures reflect the dynamism, engagement and diversity of the ISTO network. Initiatives came from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Italy, Ivory Coast and Spain, reflecting a shared commitment across regions to advance fair and sustainable tourism for all.

A platform for action and exchange on social sustainability

The International Week continues to provide ISTO members with a platform to showcase their commitment to fair, sustainable, social and accessible tourism and collaborate with like-minded professionals.

Across the Week, participants organised a variety of initiatives, including workshops, panel discussions, webinars, publications, guided tours, digital content, etc. Each initiative, regardless of format, contributed to a common goal: strengthening the positive impact of tourism on local communities, tourism workers, and visitors themselves.

The International Week is firmly rooted in ISTO’s long-standing commitment to a human-centred and socially sustainable vision of tourism. In this perspective, tourism should not only be assessed through its environmental or economic impacts, but also through its ability to contribute to social progress, cohesion, and well-being for all stakeholders involved.

A key pillar of ISTO’s work, as defined and developed through the Montreal DeclarationTowards a humanist, social vision of tourism, the Aubagne AddendumTowards a tourism based on development and solidarity, and the Brussels AddendumTowards social sustainability of tourism.

Looking ahead

The 7th edition once again highlights the vitality of ISTO’s international community and its collective commitment to a more balanced and human-centred tourism model.

ISTO warmly thanks all participating member organisations for their engagement and contribution. Their involvement continues to demonstrate that collective action is key to shaping a tourism sector that is both sustainable and fair for all.

ISTO looks forward to celebrating again in 2027 for the 8th edition with its members.
