The Association Les Amis des Arts de la Casamance, created in 2017 and based at the Adama Goudiaby Craft and Vocational Training Center in Ziguinchor, brings together cultural and craft actors to promote and enhance the arts, inspire vocations among young people, and contribute to the region’s tourism appeal. It is committed to the social and educational support of orphans and vulnerable youth, fostering their integration into professions such as painting, sculpture, sewing, and jewelry making.
Its actions aim to raise awareness of the importance of crafts, support artists, protect cultural heritage, and develop exchanges through exhibitions, festivals, and training programs. The association is also working on the creation of an e-boutique to promote local products. Among its projects are an artistic education program in schools, training for women in the arts, and the production of a film on art in Casamance.
Driven by a team of artists, artisans, and local and international partners, it has already carried out several events, including art workshops for children, a craft market, and round tables on solidarity tourism. Its vision is to make Casamance a major cultural and tourist hub, placing local communities at the heart of development, in order to strengthen autonomy, local pride, and the creation of sustainable jobs.
