The role of the Ayuntamiento is to supervise the provision of public services. In addition, it also oversees the necessary measures for the proper functioning of municipal public services. The organisation participates in the creation and administration of territorial reserves, ecological reserve areas and the formulation of regional development plans and planning programmes. It is also involved in the development and implementation of public passenger transport programmes, when these affect its territorial scope. In terms of tourism, the Ayuntamiento enables the development of tourism in the city of San Luis Potosí by promoting and encouraging public and private actions.
