To mark World Responsible Tourism Day, celebrated on 2 June, the Italian Association for Responsible Tourism (AITR) is highlighting initiatives that promote more sustainable, inclusive and locally respectful tourism. Among these, the Atlas of Soft Mobility, developed by the Alliance for Soft Mobility (AMODO) and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, aims to connect walking and cycling routes, natural areas, villages and sustainable transport. As the sector continues its recovery following the pandemic, this initiative illustrates the importance of tourism based on local connections, human interaction, heritage preservation and the development of local communities.
