On 22 March, the members of ISTO’s Board of Directors convened for an online meeting.
After an opening speech by President Isabel Novoa, a report on ISTO’s 2021 - 2022 Action Plan was presented to members. The report addressed ISTO’s international activities (working groups, Observatory project, representation activities, ISTO Awards launch, European projects, new members) and regional sections (Africa, Americas, and Europe).
This presentation was followed by a discussion of the main challenges facing the tourism sector, and the themes requiring ISTO to take a stand. The Board also approved preliminary financial statements for 2021 and the budget proposal for 2022, presented by Yves Godin, Secretary General of ISTO. Members also discussed the calendar for upcoming 2022 events. These include the Meeting of the Americas, which will take place in Colombia (25-30 April), and the third edition of the International Week of Fair and Sustainable Tourism for All (20 - 26 June), during which ISTO’s General Assembly (20 June) will take place. ISTO’s next World Congress will unfold in the Azores Islands - Portugal (12-15 October) and will be organized in partnership and support of the INATEL Foundation, the Azores’ Regional Government, and Turismo de Portugal.
