Call for proposals.
Under totalitarian regimes, democratic concepts such as "civil society", "freedom" and "democracy" and "democratic procedures" completely lost their meaning.
Citizens are invited to take part in this debate through projects or through their active engagement in organisations participating in the Europe for Citizens programme. The Commission expects projects granted under this multi-annual priority to reflect on a new narrative for Europe, citizen-oriented, forward-looking and constructive, that would be more engaging for the younger generation in particular.
Objectives.
The aim of the Europe for Citizens Programme is to contribute to citizens' understanding of the EU, its history and diversity and to encourage the democratic participation of citizens at EU level.
The action aims at
- Contribute to citizens' understanding of the Union, its history and diversity
- Foster European citizenship and to improve conditions for civic and democratic participation at Union level
The total budget earmarked for this call for proposals is estimated at EUR 9 million.

- Networks of Towns 3 March 2020 and 1 September 2020
- Civil Society Projects 1 September 2020
