On the celebration of the next Social Tourism Meeting of the Americas, which will take place from April 25 to 30, the Director for the Americas, Verónica Gómez, toured Colombia.
In Medellin, she had the opportunity to address the tourism sector and specialized press in the framework of "Momentos de Turismo", the monthly meeting of the most important tourism stakeholders in this city, who gather to inform, create synergies and alliances and keep up to date with everything that is happening in the destination. On this occasion, the director talked about Social Tourism, ISTO and the important event to be held next April, inviting everyone to participate and join as partners of a destination for all.
The tour in Medellin continued with visits to the facilities of Comfenalco Antioquia, the "Piedras Blancas Hotel and Ecological Park" and the "Recinto Quirama Hotel and Convention Center", both vacation centers.
They also visited the facilities where the academic sessions and the Social Tourism Fair will take place, and reviewed experiences of solidarity and community tourism, identified as best practices to share with the international participants. The Mayor's Office of Medellin through its Greater Medellin Convention & Visitors Bureau and Comfenalco Antioquia provided support and collaboration in this city.
The director's agenda continued in Bogota, with participation in the Vitrina Turística, the most important tourism event in Colombia organized by ANATO (Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies) where the co-organizers of this great event officially presented the Social Tourism Meeting of the Americas - Colombia 2022 in front of partners and tourism journalists from all over the country.
Then they took the opportunity to make an inspection visit to sites and best practices proposed by the Instituto Distrital de Turismo de Bogota in order to complete the agenda that will be proposed to the participants of the Meeting. This was also an opportunity for the director to talk with the actors of the network of accessible tourism in Bogota, whom she invited to follow and join the work of ISTO from the working group specially created on Accessible Tourism.
