Dear members and friends of ISTO,
It will be a great pleasure to welcome you and see you in person in Ponta Delgada, Portugal, the capital of the beautiful Azores Islands for the 28th ISTO World Congress.
Organized in partnership and with the support of the Regional Government of Azores, the INATEL Foundation and Turismo de Portugal, this Congress which comes in the middle of a crisis affecting our societies, will focus on “Social Sustainability as a Key Driver for the Future of Tourism” from three perspectives: travelers, residents and workers.
Dear members and friends of ISTO,
It is with great pleasure that Fundação INATEL welcomes, in 2022, in Azores, the 28th ISTO World Congress, precisely when we are celebrating 50th years of ISTO membership.
Sustainable Tourism, in particular, its social dimension, is of extremely importance to all tourism actors that believe there is a better way for Tourism, with more inclusion, more solidarity and more respect for people - those who travel, receive and work - together with an intelligent development of territories.
So, Azores, the only archipelago in the world certified as a «Sustainable Destination», is the right place to bring together ISTO members to discuss and network about this important thematic. We want this event to strengthen our path towards a more sustainable tourism and be an opportunity to discover these beautiful islands.
See you soon!
Dear members and friends of ISTO,
It is with great joy and enthusiasm that the Azores Regional Government welcomes the 28th ISTO World Congress in one of our islands!
We are very honoured and deeply grateful to ISTO and INATEL’s Presidents for bringing such an important event to the first and only archipelago in the world to be formally certified as a «Sustainable Destination», according to the Global Sustainable Tourism Council criteria.
