On 27 October, Isabel Novoa, ISTO President, spoke alongside other experts during the session "Are we doing enough to make tourism accessible for everyone?", as part of the Future of Tourism World Summit Barcelona 2021.
Broadcasted live from Radio Televisión Española (RTVE), the Presidente of the International Social Tourism Organization (ISTO), Isabel Novoa, presented the current context in which activities that promote accessible tourism are carried out, and discussed the initiatives that ISTO undertakes to promote the right of all citizens to access quality tourism.
In her speech, the President of ISTO stated that "we are working to raise awareness among public institutions and entities to boost the implementation [of accessibility]''. In addition, this event was an opportunity to present ISTO's guide of recommendations in welcoming people with disabilities, published at the end of 2020.
Isabel Novoa also highlighted the need to reduce the seasonality in the tourism sector, to work to make the digital tools more accessible for people with disabilities, and improve the working conditions of the workers in the sector.
This event made room for an open space to provide ideas, for which Isabel Novoa called on all stakeholders in the tourism sector to join forces and work jointly to promote Tourism for all.
