From 12 to 15 October 2022, the ISTO World Congress will be held on the theme "Social Sustainability: a key driver for the future of tourism". Benefit from reduced registration and hotel rates valid until Friday, 5 August.
The International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO), together with the support of the Regional Government of the Azores Islands, INATEL Foundation and Turismo de Portugal, invite ISTO members, partners and friends to join this event that will bring together about 200 participants from several continents.
It is a unique forum for government representatives and professionals interested in policies, best practices and new trends in the field of Fair and Sustainable Tourism for All.
At this Congress, three key aspects of the social sustainability of tourism will be considered: travellers, residents and workers. On this triple basis, the need to aim at reducing inequalities, to implement social tourism policies that promote integration, inclusion, solidarity, social justice and an equitable redistribution of benefits and available resources, while being in line with the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, will be discussed.
Whether in plenary sessions, participatory workshops, networking sessions or field visits to local organisations, there will be the opportunity to learn, exchange and discuss solutions to the many challenges facing the tourism sector.
