The Ligue de l'enseignement is a popular education movement created in 1866. Encompassing 30 000 associations, 2 million members and 102 departmental confederations, it is the first French coordination associative. More than a simple observer of societal evolutions, it encourages all individual and collective initiatives to develop education and training throug life, culture and sports for all and holidays for as many people as possible.
