Green Chwadi Nature Retreat is an eco-community lodge in Chitwan National Park area (Central south plains of Nepal) that is built on a unique social business model. We are a newly established social enterprise that connects community, culture and nature through tourism leading it to a prospective social entrepreneurship platform. Our journey actually started with the pandemic in 2019 and then everything was a story of patience and struggles (as for the entire world).
"Travel with social footprints & make social impacts effortlessly by staying with us" is what we are trying to envision, promote and materialize. Sustainable Self-Sufficiency of the local community is our main purpose.
The experience of traditional home-ambience stays, locally grown food and a blend of nature, culture and adventure is what we holistically showcase and cater to our valued guests. We make a harmonized fusion of nature retreat and community retreat in our activities, which will not just make your travel a worth experience but also adds contentment to your heart as your spending is directly benefiting the lives in the community. To validate and make it a prototype of social tourism we have three major involvements:
  • Women Entrepreneurship - Our landscape is surrounded by indigenous Tharu and Bote Community. They are mostly engaged in farming and fishing for their livelihoods. We have constructed a Traditional Tharu Kitchen and Cultural Courtyard for the women group representing the community and here we connect their indigenous knowledge and richness to economic resilience.
  • Free Montessori Education - We have established a Community Happy Montessori for the local underprivileged kindergarten children who get free education with uniforms, stationeries and daily nutritious tiffin. We further engage their guardian to be part of learning and promote to become a ‘green accountable community member’. Respect for Diversity, Respect for Humanity and Respect for Environment is what we pragmatically learn.
  • Green Initiatives - Located just in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park and the wetland zone, our green ambience has a different value. There is a natural well (Chwadi in local language) at our entrance which is like a community water hub, where the whole village comes to collect water for drinking. We have designed a weekly Chwadi-cleaning program with the community which is really impactful. Similarly, we have tree plantations, community vegetations, river cleaning activities, plastic-free zones and national park cleaning initiatives to name a few.
