On 8 January, the International Social Tourism Organisation was honoured to receive this award for the first time.
The International Social Tourism Organization (ISTO) won first place as the best tourism organisation in the Expertos en Turismo awards, a community that brings together 100 passionate people from the tourism industry in Mexico, thus generating a space for experts in the sector to generate alliances with the idea of boosting tourism in the country.
The Annual Tourism Award serves to recognise the work of people and organisations that work in favour of the tourism industry, it has 14 categories where "Educación Turística" and "Expertos en Turismo" allow the public to nominate and also vote for their favourites.
Voting ended on last 27 December and ISTO received the recognition during a live broadcast on Facebook on Sunday, 8 January 2023. According to Raúl Hammed Torres, director of the VI Tourism Congress in Guadalajara and Mexican lecturer, responsible for "Educación Turística": "It was incredible the vote for this organisation, many congratulations".
ISTO shares this award with the entire community of actors and partners of social, fair and sustainable tourism, mainly in Mexico but also in the rest of the world, who defend tourism "at the service of people, communities and territories".
