Welcome to the International Week of Fair and Sustainable Tourism for All of the International Social Tourism Organisation - ISTO
From May 28th to June 4th we will be sharing ideas, case studies and future projects to make tourism a tool for development in all countries and, above all, at this very special moment in history.
The crisis resulting from the covid-19 pandemic has forced the whole humanity to stop. Never before has society as a whole been so paralysed and this will have unsuspected consequences in all fields. In spite of everything, 2020 is the year of opportunity and hope.
The opportunity to reflect on the behaviour of humanity and the hope of changing our behaviour. In view of this new social and environmental awareness, at ISTO we believe that socially responsible, supportive and sustainable tourism will be promoted, that is, a new tourism.
At ISTO we consider tourism to be a tool to improve quality of life, care for the environment, promote fair business and foster inclusion and solidarity action. In the section for the Americas, we are convinced that fair and sustainable tourism for all will allow the sector to be reactivated in the region and in the continental community as a whole.
For more than 50 years ISTO and its members have been proposing and demonstrating that a qualitative change in tourism management is possible. For more than 50 years we have been dedicated to building better people and communities with our activity. It is in our DNA.
The E-Week of Social Tourism offers you this wide experience. Principles and practices that are already helping to drive a new tourism around the world and that serve as inspiration at times like this one.
We are sure that the programme, with activities in French, Spanish, Portuguese and English, will be of interest to all those who wish to reflect on and generate changes in tourism in the Americas and the world.
