Raquel Huete is a Professor of Sociology and a researcher at the University Institute of Tourist Research of the University of Alicante. Prior to her academic career, she gained professional experience in the tourism sector as well as in social research entities. She has held various positions in university management and has also served as the Director General of Tourism for the Valencian Community. Currently, she leads a research group focused on the planning and sustainable management of tourism and edits the journal Investigaciones Turísticas.
Her research is particularly focused on accessible tourism and the social aspects of tourism sustainability, as well as the relationship between tourism and migration. She has significantly contributed to the field of tourism with over a hundred articles, books, and book chapters.
Huete has been a speaker at numerous international congresses and collaborates with various international networks related to sustainable tourism, consolidating her position as an authoritative voice in tourism research from a social perspective.
