The institutional mission of the ICT is defined as follows: Being an institution oriented to strengthening the Costa Rican model of sustainable tourism development through the development of public policies, alliances, programmes and projects to promote competitiveness, sustainability, equity, solidarity and the pleasant stay of tourists, all with a view to improving Costa Ricans' standards of living.
