As part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Montreal Declaration "Towards a Humanist, Social Vision of Tourism", ISTO Europe will organise a celebration on 26 and 27 of November 2026 in Bologna, in partnership with AITR, as part of the 5th edition of AITR Incontra.
The event will bring together members of the ISTO network, partners, academics and stakeholders in responsible tourism to reflect on the legacy of the Montreal Declaration and discuss its continued relevance in addressing the challenges of more inclusive, responsible and socially sustainable tourism.
Since its adoption in 1996, the Montreal Declaration has promoted a vision of tourism based on inclusion, solidarity and access to tourism for all. Thirty years on, its principles continue to inspire stakeholders committed to developing more responsible and sustainable tourism models.
The programme will include a session dedicated to the Montreal Declaration at the University of Bologna on 26 November, with the participation of ISTO Europe, AITR, the University of Bologna and other committed organisations.
Discussions will continue on 27 November as part of the 5th edition of AITR Incontra at DumBO, during a day dedicated to meetings, networking and the exchange of experiences between organisations and professionals involved in responsible tourism.
