The European members of ISTO met on 17 December. The main purpose of this meeting was to present the challenges, priorities and objectives of the European section. The action plan is based on 3 main working groups.
The European members of ISTO met for the first time on December 17th, since the establishment of the new Coordination Committee of ISTO Europe. The Committee, composed of 16 member organisations, is chaired by Muriel Antoniotti (Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Tourisme) who is supported by two Vice-Presidents, Gianluca Pastorelli (DIESIS Network) and Benoît César (KALEO) and a Secretary, Anabela Correia (Fundaçao INATEL).
The main purpose of this meeting was to present to the members of the European section the issues, priorities and objectives of the section for the next two years and to present the action plan proposed to be approved by the members. This action plan, which was established in connection with the ISTO International one, is based on 3 working groups on the following topics:
- Advocacy and network development
- Mobility and tourism for young people
- Social policies of tourism and domestic tourism
It is also structured around a calendar of events consisting of technical meetings of these groups, the bimonthly CafecISTO Europe meetings within the framework of the CafecISTOs, a partnership meeting planned for next spring in Lyon and an annual meeting in December to assess and prepare for the following year.
All ISTO members in Europe who wish to do so may join one or other of the proposed working groups in order to put their expertise to good use in the service of tourism for all, which generates sustainable and responsible development, strengthens local economies and is a source of sustainable employment.
