Legambiente is a widespread environmental organisation in Italy, with 20 regional branches and more than 115.000 members. They try to make people understand that it is by making local changes that a better environment can be created for everyone on a global scale. Every initiative to safeguard the environment is carried out on the basis of accurate scientific data. They focus on problems deriving from environment and urban degradation, on the link between climate change and increase of poverty trying to promote and enhance a large variety of production activities (cultural heritage, technical innovation, urban and land maintenance). Legambiente is also active in the field of International Cooperation for Development, implementing development and socio-environmental projects, aimed at facilitating measures in developing countries to safeguard ecosystems. They offer experience of concrete and sustainable development and highlight the value of local human resources.
