The IUF publishes demands regarding hotels and equality in the post-COVID crisis.

The IUF, that is represented in ISTO's Task Force, has published a series of trade union demands regarding the hospitality sector and gender equality in the post-COVID crisis.

The IUF (International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers' Associations) cautions employers and governments that workers’ rights cannot be “suspended” or “deferred” during extraordinary events. Employers’ obligations are based on Conventions and human rights instruments.

The IUF also wants to ensure that a gender approach to the COVID-19 crisis is adopted by employers, health authorities and governments. A gender responsive approach to the COVID-19 crisis is essential across the whole of society to ensure that gender inequalities are not reproduced, perpetuated or exacerbated in the context of this pandemic. This includes in workplaces, through healthcare provision and research, and in preventing violence towards women and girls.
