ISTO's working group on Accessible Tourism launches document with recommendations regarding health measures for people with disabilities during Covid-19.

ISTO’s working group focused on this document during 2020 as a way to provide general guidelines for the attention of people with disabilities.

The Accessible Tourism working group of ISTO, composed of about twenty member organisations, decided to work in 2020 on specific recommendations in relation to the health measures introduced in all countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

These measures often forget the specificities for people with disabilities. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities states that all possible measures should be taken to ensure the safety and protection of persons with disabilities, especially in health emergencies, as is the case with Covid-19. The working group of ISTO therefore wanted to identify the actions necessary to ensure the best possible reception of all visitors. The aim of this document is to complete the measures implemented for the well-being of all.

It includes 6 general recommendations for the care of people with disabilities as well as various recommendations for people with motor, visual, hearing or cognitive disabilities.

The document is available in French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch. Click here to read it.
