The International Social Tourism Organization (ISTO) held its General Assembly on June 20 2023. The General Assembly brought together members from all over the world, board members, partners, and other stakeholders to be informed and discuss matters pertaining to the organization's activities.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Activity Report for the period of 2022-2023. ISTO's President and team provided a comprehensive overview of the organization's accomplishments and milestones during the previous year. The report included updates on ongoing projects, initiatives, and collaborations. Additionally, representatives from the regional sections shared their respective reports, highlighting the progress made.
Financial matters took center stage as the Financial Report for 2022 and the proposed Budget for 2023 were presented and adopted.
The General Assembly also delved into the Action Plan for the upcoming period of 2023-2024. ISTO International and its Regional Sections outlined their goals and strategies for the forthcoming years, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and synergy across all levels.
The occasion also served as an opportunity to present the planned activities for commemorating ISTO's upcoming 60th anniversary. Attendees learned about the special initiatives designed to celebrate ISTO's 60 years of dedication to fair and sustainable tourism for all. The General Assembly included the presentation of the commemorative logo and the announcement of a celebration scheduled to take place in Brussels on 29 November 2023.
Moreover, the General Assembly included a call for applications for the World Congress scheduled to take place in 2024. ISTO welcomes proposals from interested parties to host this prestigious event, which serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and the advancement of tourism for all on a global scale.
The General Assembly concluded with a sense of accomplishment, as ISTO's members departed with a renewed commitment to driving the organization forward. The discussions, decisions, and shared vision of the General Assembly have set the stage for a vibrant and impactful future, ensuring ISTO's global leadership in social sustainability for the tourism sector.
