The Board of Directors of the International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO) held an online meeting on April 26, 2023, to discuss several important agenda items. The ISTO President, Isabel Novoa, presented the Global Strategy and main lines of the Action Plan for 2023-2024.
One of the main topics discussed was the Action Plan for 2023-2024, which outlined ISTO's Global Strategy and lines of action, as well as plans for the Regional Sections in Africa, Americas, and Europe. The Global Strategy focuses on ISTO becoming a global leader in social sustainability for the tourism sector. The Regional Sections discussed their plans to continue strengthening their territorial positioning and organising upcoming events.
The Board also reviewed ISTO's finances, including the preliminary results for 2022 and the proposed budget for 2023. Additionally, upcoming events and meetings were discussed, including meetings with Public Authorities to discuss indicators of Social Sustainability, the Encuentro de las Américas de Turismo Social, the 4th edition of the International Week, ISTO General Assembly, and ISTO 60th Anniversary. These events will provide opportunities for ISTO to showcase its work and promote fair and sustainable tourism all around the world.
The meeting was a productive and positive step towards advancing the organisation's mission of promoting fair and sustainable tourism for all. The Board remains committed to working towards these goals and looks forward to the upcoming events and initiatives in the coming years.
