Environment, Quality of life

Belgium

On May 9th and 10th, several holiday centers on the Belgian coast are opening their doors and organizing fun and educational activities, with respect for the environment. This event, called Zeejemee, aims to raise awareness of this type of tourist structure and to highlight the DNA of the Belgian coast.

The Vlaamse Jeugdherbergen (Flemish Youth Hostels) are participating by opening the doors of the youth hostels De Peerdevisser and De Ploate (Oostende).

Programme for Saturday and Sunday 9th and 10th of May:

Our Belgian coast is known for its vast beaches. You've already felt that sand between your toes, but have you ever taken a closer look at it?

With the help of camera magnifiers and microscopes, you have the opportunity to analyse all kinds of sand. A guide from the Marine Ecological Centre will help you to do this and will also help you look for new discoveries!

After all that research, don't forget your goodie bag. This way you'll have a reminder of this fun day at Youth Hostel De Peerdevisser.
