This paper will describe important findings of the historical process from its genesis to date, with emphasis on its relation to the products offered under the model of sustainable tourism and social tourism. In addition, a successful case of a certified application of accessible tourism will be shared.

We will count with the participation of: Ms. Stephanie Sheehy, founder of the Asociación Red Costarricense de Turismo Accesible; Mr. Alberto Sánchez, professor of the Cátedra de Emprendedurismo Turístico of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the UNED; Mr. Tadeo F. Morales, entrepreneur and president of the Cámara de Turismo Arenal.
